Ted’s Smart Travel Notebook: Singapore 🇸🇬

FairFX is an official sponsor of Sky Sports F1® for the 2017 Formula 1 season, which means we’ll be running some great competitions throughout the season and our blog will feature lots of exciting travel tips, videos and behind the scenes insights. Formula One heads to Asia this weekend for the Singapore Grand Prix. Singapore hosted the first night-time event in Formula One history back in 2008, and continues to be an adrenaline filled street race in the Marina Bay area of the city using powerful lighting systems to replicate daylight conditions.

We’ve teamed up with Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports F1® again to get his top tips on what to see and do when visiting Singapore (whether you’re interested in the race or not), plus some pointers on how to get to the circuit.

Whilst F1 does bring a certain extra buzz to Singapore, it’s an action packed city all year round and is fast becoming one of Asia’s hit-list destinations.

One of the most iconic features of Singapore’s impressive skyline has to be the twinkling Supertrees of Gardens by the Bay – Singapore’s 21st-century botanic garden which spreads 101 hectares and cost an astounding 1 billion Singapore dollars. It’s a must-see fantasy land of space-age bio-domes, sculptures, and waterfalls.

If you’d like to see an even wilder part of town, why not visit the city’s fantastic central zoo or its night safari? Make sure to bring your best camera – you’ll want to catch some great shots of the animals of course, but Formula One photographer Steven Tee says that Singapore is also one of the most exciting tracks to test out your photographic skillset.

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, head to Keong Saik Road to fuel up at some of the city’s best eateries. There’s a great mixture of cuisines and styles, serving up everything from breakfast to dinner, and coffee to cocktails.

As well as Ted’s tips, make sure you check out the videos from our F1 Smart Series. Some of the brightest people in F1 tell us about the smart moves that are made on and off the track. 1. No mention of Norwegian airlines. By far the cheapest direct flight on the market. From £140 each way.

    1. Thanks for the tip, Mark
