Formula One heads to another classic European racing circuit this weekend for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza. We’ve caught up with Ted Kravitz of Sky Sports F1® again for his latest Smart Travel Notebook, where he gives us his insider tips of what to see and do when heading to Monza, how to get there, and where to stay.

Check out the video above for Ted’s top tips on what to see and do when visiting Monza, plus how to get to the circuit.

The provincial town of Monza is steeped in history and beautiful architecture, the grand Villa Reale for example was modelled on Vienna’s Schönbrunn Palace and used to be the summer home for Italian royalty. The Museo e Tesoro del Duomo is Monza’s cathedral museum that contains one of the finest collections of religious art in Europe.

Being the Italian Grand Prix, Monza is somewhat of a pilgrimage for Ferrari fans but if you aren’t as interested in the racing as they are, or you’re just looking to extend your trip, Italy’s fashion and design capital of Milan is less than an hour away.

Designer stores line the Quadrilatero D’Oro district, while outlets, high street shops and boutiques are found in all corners of the city. Historical monuments sit alongside the most desired names in fashion.

  1. How do you lock in the exchange rate and for how long ?

    1. Hi Alan,

You lock in the rate when you load with the Euro Card. Just top up with pounds and that money is converted to euros there and then. Top-up whenever the pound is having a good day and the money that you load is locked at that rate.

The card lasts for 3 years but you can renew the card for free after that.
